Potential Development Tools: Prototyping

Development of this application could take on various forms so it's best to begin to narrow down which process would garner the best results for the final product. I'd like for this project to have the potential to go beyond just a prototype but as a proving ground that there is a demand for an application such as this in the market.

Adobe XD

This application was what I defaulted to when developing the foundation prototype when completing the 'E-Learning' module last year. Upon reflection, I found it to be extremely useful but limited to the full potential this application has, which I wish to uncover. 

In prior experiences, I found Adobe XD to be extremely helpful when creating wireframes, templates, and prototypes. This was mainly in the realm of designing user interfaces and streamlining pre-existing design processes for my employer to further the ongoing development of their websites. 

XD is more of a prototyping tool where when I get beyond the prototyping process the project file will have to be replicated in code. 

I have found that there are potential avenues for which HTML can be generated from an Adobe XD project file when furthering the development but this is very limited. XD will be relegated to the initial user interface design/user experience and the generation of flowcharts etc. in the coming weeks.

Plugins: Anima

Luckily they are plugins that aid in going beyond the limitations of Adobe XD. My experience in coding is limited which was an unavoidable concern in the production of this application. My own skills can get this project to a certain level visually, but the functionality would be a focus point. Such plugins as 'Anima' aid in converting an XD file into a production-ready HTML file which can work as a foundation for when this application goes beyond the prototype phase. 

The only downside is resources such as 'Anima' function on a paid subscription basis, a small downside to a very effective resource which I believe will be extremely helpful in this process of creating my desired product. 
  • Every screen designed will be exported with an HTML + CSS file. 
  • Every component will have its own individual set of codes. 

Figma

Upon research of Figma (primarily its free functions), I believe Adobe XD offers more than what this application requires. However, I see potential in Figma in their diagram functionalities. When presenting flowcharts/user personas/user journeys I believe that this resource will come into play at any stage of this development, not just confined to the prototyping phase.

Application Development Research Overview

Application Development Research When developing this application many unknowns need answers. My experience in developing applications/websites is very front-end. Experiences such as developing working prototypes active in applications such as Adobe XD or dictating to a third-party developer what changes needed to be made to my employer's website.  When developing on the more back-end side there's an extensive amount of research that is required before I can definitively answer many of the unknowns.  Existing Motorsport Applications Before going in-depth on the more technical aspects of developing an application I need to know what is already established in the market of motorsport-related applications. NFC Trading Card Research

Following up on last week's development into a trading card concept I began researching means by which augmented reality could be implemented into the use of physical cards and the application itself.  This began by looking at Amiibo's ( Amiibo - Nintendo - Official Site ), more specifically the use of Amiibo trading card-esque cards (Nintendo, Animal Crossing amiibo cards and Amiibo figures - official site ) which add additional content to multiple entries in Animal Crossing ( Animal Crossing: New leaf 2012) ( Animal Crossing: New horizons 2020) series.  Prolonging the user experience whilst balancing the hobby of collecting cards to showcase.
